EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
GENERAL PRACTICE: Following my discharge from the Navy in 1979, I moved to Tallahassee, Florida where I practiced until 1998. I opened my practice in Thomasville, Georgia and Cairo, Georgia in May 1998. I am certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and am a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. In 1995, I was certified in advanced operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy There are two things that give me the most satisfaction in my practice. The first is my relationship with my patients. I am in solo practice because I believe it is still the best way to provide continuity of medical care. My patients see me on every visit. I do not employ nurse practitioners or physician assistants to see them for me. The second thing I enjoy is providing simple, low-impact solutions to gynecologic problems. When possible, I prefer office-based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. When surgery is necessary, I prefer an out-patient, endoscopic approach to minimize pain and trauma. I also believe that your time is as valuable as mine and make every effort to minimize your waiting and maximize the content of your visit. Your lab results or pathology reports will be called to you as soon as we receive them and all phone messages will be returned within 24 hours. Good medical care is not cheap. My being qualified to offer and perform a variety of possible procedures and options benefits you, as the patient, to experience significant cost and comfort advantages. My fees are comparable to those of other physicians in the community, but only you can decide whether or not you are getting your "money's worth". If you feel that you are not or if you have any questions concerning fees, please feel free to discuss them with me. ABOUT OUR STAFF: Your first encounter with our office will likely be through Kim Phillips. Kim has many years of experience in the medical field and will happily assist you in making your appointment, and answering any questions you may have about the practice. She will also call you in advance to remind you of your appointment time and will assist you in scheduling mammograms, bone densities, and other necessary studies. The next person you are likely to meet is Phyllis Gantt, my medical assistant. Phyllis assists me with each exam and is available to answer phone calls and to report and discuss lab results with you. She has years of experience in the field of gynecology and is familiar with all the procedures we offer. As an additional service to our patients, Cheryl Sumner files all insurance claims, coordinates billing and collections, and schedules all surgical procedures. She can answer your questions regarding insurance coverage, procedure fees, and payment policies. And last, but not least, around any corner in the office or in the operating room you are likely to meet my wife, Rayner Taylor. Rayner is a registered nurse with many years of experience, both in the hospital setting as well as in the office. She is also an excellent surgical nurse and assists me in the operating room from time to time. My staff are all warm and caring people. They are also happy people, and pleasant to work with. Their positive attitude and "can do" spirit makes it possible for us to accomplish the sensitive, yet upbeat level of care that we uniquely provide. Please take time to meet and get to know each of them. As a patient at Plantation Gynecology, you will find that you will receive some of the most professional, yet friendly and personable, service available to you. Please don't hesitate to contact us at either of our offices.
